Action for Prisoners' Families is the national organisation for those interested in the well being of prisoners’ families.
We believe that:
Imprisonment damages family life and separates children from parents.
Our Vision is:
That every prisoner’s family should get the support they would like and need.
Who do we work with?
Action for Prisoners’ Families works across statutory, private and voluntary sectors - education, health, social care, criminal justice, and children’s services - to reduce the negative impact of imprisonment. We promote and support the development of services for prisoners’ families.
What can we do?
We have a wide range of publications and resources including storybooks for children with a parent in custody (free of charge to prisoners’ families), and resources for practitioners working with prisoners’ families.
You can join us for free and get access to free downloads, up-to-date information on issues relevant to the families of prisoners’, information on training, workshops, forums and events, networking and consultative opportunities, etc.
Our Development Officers, who are based around England and Wales, can give practitioners advice and support on setting up support groups, family friendly prison visits, working with prisoners’ families, best practice, etc. E-mail: lucykeenan@actionpf.org.uk if you would like to make contact.
If you just have a general query about our work, require information, or want to know about working with prisoners’ families do get in touch.
